Mahindra has launched a rebagged 2nd generation Ssangyong Rexton, Alturas G4 2WD and a top-spec 4Wd which costs ranging from 26.95 lakh to 29.95 lakh. The new Alturas G4 is bold, bigger, spacious, appealing and powerful from its ancestor.
The Alturas is based on ladder-frame chassis and comes with a chrome front grille, characteristic sideline, appealing colour combination, sleek and smooth dual tone roofline with roof rail, Twin chamber HID headlamp, stunning taillamps which all are harmonically synchronized to impart the unit a bold, appealing, and advance look.
The Alturas G4 is powered with a 2.2-litre diesel engine by Ssangyong which churns out a power of 178hp at 4000rpm and 420Nm of torque at 1600-2600rpm and is coupled with 7-speed Gtronic automatic gearbox borrowed from Mercedes. The Alturas G4 is fitted with a shift-on-fly four-wheel drive system that can be operated via a round chrome knob situated behind the gear lever.
On the scale of features, it comes with Quilted NAPPA leather upholstery, Dual tone interiors, Ergonomic seat design, Dual Zone fully automatic climate control, Memory profile for driver seat and OVRM, 8-way adjustable driver seat, Electric sunroof, Ventilated front seats, 3D around view camera, 20.32 cm Hi-tech infotainment touch screen, Steering mounted control, LCD cluster, Android auto and Apple car play, 9 airbags, ESP, Hill descent control, Electronic parking brake with auto hold and many more.
The Alturas G4 will be sold from Mahindra’s new World of SUVs showrooms. It is obviously costlier than its predecessor Rexton but its 4WD version is still cheaper than its rivals like Ford Endeavour which costs Rs 32.81 lakh and the Toyota Fortuner which costs Rs 32.97 lakh for the 4WD automatic variants.
